Former Garmin worker admits stealing GPS units to sell

A 31-year-old former Olathe man pleaded guilty in Kansas federal court Tuesday to stealing GPS units from his employer, sending them to friends in Atlanta and selling them online.

Terrence M. Heathington, who now lives in Georgia, once worked in Garmin International’s Olathe warehouse, where he stole the units.

He shipped them to high school friends and together they sold them on eBay. The company discovered the thefts when someone who had purchased devices from one of Heathington’s friends called Garmin and notified the company that an employee had stolen units and were trying to sell them, court records said.
