Jimmy Fallon, Matthew McConaughey pay tribute to Jay Leno before final show

Jimmy Fallon visited The Tonight Show Tuesday to say "Thank You" to Jay Leno before taking his place. In one of his signature "Late Night" bits, Fallon wrote a few thank yous to Leno.

"Thank you, Jay Leno, for passing the torch to me. Hopefully it doesn’t get intercepted by a Seahawk. Thank you, Jay, for teaching me how to be a late-night host — but was it really necessary for me to ‘wax on, wax off’ your entire car collection? I didn’t know I was going to get Miyagi-ed when I came out here. Thank you, Jay, for giving me such great advice for the Tonight Show like ‘you don’t need a monologue,’ and ‘have you ever thought about getting bangs?’

“And finally, thank you Jay Leno, for carrying on the proud tradition of the Tonight Show host with such humor and class and for being nothing but gracious and generous to me over the past years. I will do my best to make you proud every single night. Thank you.”

Matthew McConaughey, who said he has been on The Tonight Show 16 times, told Leno he still remembers the advice Leno gave him before his first appearance on the show.

Former NBA player Charles Barkley stopped by to say goodbye and retire Jay's signature denim shirt.

The legendary Betty White talked about all of the Tonight Show hosts she worked with over the years.

Jay Leno's guests for his final show airing Thursday will be Billy Crystal and Garth Brooks.
