Kentucky principal calls snow day to tune of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’
snow day message of yours thats now going viral. You want Ellen and Jimmy to see it? Were glad to help.
Stephens Elementary School principal James Detwiler in Burlington, Ky., sent out a school-closing announcement on Monday sung to the tune of Bohemian Rhapsody.
He and the schools creative drama teacher, Chad Caddell, rocked out together in the recording sent to parents. They made it last week and had it ready to go for a future snow day, Detwiler told the Today show.
It was ready to go, so when I got the call yesterday morning early, I got up, got my coffee, pushed the button on my computer and it went out to everybody, he told Today.
Parents who loved the message peer-pressured Detwiler into posting a YouTube video, where it got more than 77,000 views in its first day.
We like to have fun at our school. So, after several school closings due to snow and cold, we recorded this call to parents to see if we could make them laugh. I think we succeeded, Detwiler wrote on YouTube.
By the way, if this video can gain us some exposure, AND you know of someone willing to help us out with some cash for technology, we DESPERATELY need it. Ellen? Rosie? Oprah? Jimmy Kimmel? We love our jobs I hope you can tell!
Oh, we can tell.
Caddell the drama teacher apparently has an idea for a new announcement, which could come as early as this week in this snowy school year.
How about a little Cold as Ice by Foreigner next time?
