Water main break adds to problems on Shawnee Mission Parkway near Mission Road

Fairway police are warning people to avoid Shawnee Mission Parkway just west of Mission Road because of a large water main break on Tuesday morning.

Flooding and the resulting lane closure are adding to the winter-related problems driving on the busy northeast Johnson County artery.

The break will hinder snow removal by the road crews, and vehicle traffic will further be impacted, police said in a statement.
