Lee’s Summit hires Kevin Daniel from Ray-Pec

The Lee’s Summit school board has named Kevin Daniel as associate superintendent of instruction and leadership. He will start his new job in in July, replacing Ann Starlin-Horner, who will retire.

Daniel is now assistant superintendent for academic services in the Raymore-Peculiar School District.

Vendors needed for craft fair

Proceeds from a vendor/craft fair on March 1 will help finance scholarships for high school seniors in Cass County.

The event is organized by the Cass County Association of Educational Office Professionals, which is looking for vendors for the Ladies’ Day Out event at the Belton Freshman Center.

Auditions for Starlight STARS of Tomorrow

The Starlight STARS of Tomorrow will hold auditions Feb. 20 and 22 for children who will be in grades 7 through 12 next fall. Auditions will be at Starlight Theatre, 4600 Starlight Road.

Auditions are at 7 p.m. Feb. 20 and 9 a.m. Feb. 22, but students need to be there 30 minutes earlier for check-in. All performers must RSVP for

one audition date beforehand. No walk-ups will be allowed.

Send preferred audition date, student name, current grade level, and name and phone number of at least one parent or legal guardian to

The Starlight STARS of Tomorrow get intensive study in acting, dance and voice, participate in master classes led by Broadway cast members involved in Starlight's Broadway season, perform on Starlight's Spotlight Stage, and meet throughout the summer, fall and winter holiday season for master classes, rehearsals and additional performances. The program costs $400.
