KC woman found dead in mid-Missouri
Authorities in central Missouri are trying to determine how a Kansas City woman’s body ended up in a field behind a business in Holts Summit, Mo.
They identified the victim as Jessica Murafetis, 44, who had lived in Kansas City about four years and has family in Johnson County, Mo., police said.
She was found Thursday morning wearing sweatpants and a long-sleeve T-shirt bearing the name of a Kansas City towing company. An employee of a nearby business spotted her body and called police about 11:30 a.m., the Holts Summit Police Department said. Holts Summit is south of Columbia.
“We have no known connection to anyone in this area that would have brought her here,” Sgt. Marc Haycook said Friday.
An autopsy is pending, he said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Lt. Bryan Reid at 573-896-8431, or the Callaway County Crime Stoppers at 573-592-2474.
