Two Kansas City area plaintiff’s law firms merge

The Kansas City area law firms of Bartimus, Frickleton, Robertson & Gorny PC and Goza Honnold LLC have merged.

The two plaintiff’s law firms have combined as Bartimus, Frickleton, Robertson & Goza PC, with a main office in Leawood.

The combined firm, with 14 attorneys, will open additional offices on the Country Club Plaza and in Jefferson City.

Managing partner Jim Frickleton said the two firms had each focused on consumer class action and mass tort litigation as well as personal injury cases, including medical malpractice. The merger particularly will help expand the firm’s work in pharmaceutical mass tort lawsuits, he said.

Brad Honnold will direct the firm’s mass tort practice.

Partner Jim Bartimus said the two firms had discussed a possible alliance as long as 22 years ago “and it finally made sense now.”

The financial details of the merger were not released.

Both firms have earned national attention for multimillion-dollar verdicts or settlements on behalf of individuals and groups of plaintiffs.

Steve Gorny, formerly with the Bartimus firm, joined earlier this year with Rob Bruer in the Gorny Law Firm on the Plaza.
