Reward grows in Independence killing

The reward fund for information in the death last summer of a young Independence man has been increased to $7,000.

Michelle Metje, the mother of Corey Laykovich, contributed $2,000 to the fund on the six-month anniversary of her son’s death. Laykovich, 22, died July 28 after being stabbed early the previous morning. Police continue to investigate.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (474-8477). Information leading to an arrest in the case could be eligible for the reward money. Tipsters remain anonymous.
