State of the Union, right and left: ‘Duck Dynasty’ star Willie Robertson to attend, Bill Maher to tweet for Huff Post
“Duck Dynasty” star Willie Robertson will be attend Tuesday night’s State of the Union address, and Huffington Post will hand the reins of its Twitter account to talk show host and comedian Bill Maher during the speech.
Robertson is a guest of U.S. Rep. Vance McAllister, a Louisiana Republican.
“Willie is thankful for this opportunity and honored to attend. I look forward to the two of us representing the Fifth District in DC this evening and bringing some diversity to our nation’s capitol,” McAllister said in a statement Tuesday.
Robertson cut an ad for McAllister during last year’s special election. He’s very popular in Louisiana, where “Duck Dynasty” is based. The show follows the Robertson family and their duck call business.
Willie Robertson’s father Phil Robertson, also one of the show’s stars, came under national scrutiny late last year after he made controversial remarks about homosexuality in an interview with GQ.
A, which puts on the show, initially suspended Phil Robertson before reversing course.
Maher, the liberal host of HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher,” will take over the Huffington Post Twitter account,
, at 8 p.m.
He is an outspoken critic of organized religion and supports the legalization of gambling, prostitution and marijuana.
Maher is scheduled to appear at the Midland on April 13.
