Southwest to start non-stop Washington service
Southwest Airlines will offer a daily nonstop flight between Kansas City and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, beginning Saturday under temporary federal approval.
The airline had petitioned for flight authority from the U.S. Department of Transportation to replace Frontier Airlines’ daily nonstop service set to end Friday, according to an announcement from Sen. Jerry Moran of Kansas.
Southwest, which provides the most service at Kansas City International Airport, currently offers connecting service to Washington.
Moran’s announcement said permanent reallocation of the route would require formal proceedings over several months.
