Woman sought after Lawrence homicide found safe in Florida

Authorities in Florida have found a woman who had been sought in connection with the recent homicide of a Lawrence man.

Lawrence police said Sunday that they were contacted by a law enforcement agency in Florida late Saturday requesting verification that they were looking for Sarah Brooke Gonzales McLinn and a 2008 Nissan Altima registered to Harold Sasko. Police found the body of Sasko, 52, on Jan. 17 when they went to his home looking for McLinn after family members said they couldn’t reach her.

McLinn, who also lived at the home, was not there, and Sasko’s car was missing. Police have not said how McLinn, 19, might be connected to the case.

Lawrence police detectives flew to Florida early Sunday to verify that McLinn and the car had been found. Detectives confirmed that the person was McLinn and said she appeared to be uninjured.

Police said the investigation into Sasko’s death is ongoing.
