July date set for re-trial in 1990 Missouri killing

A judge on Friday set a July 21 trial date for a Missouri man accused in the 1990 killing of a woman outside of Chillicothe.

It will be the third time Mark Woodworth has been tried in the shooting death of Cathy Robertson and the wounding of her husband. The Robertsons and Woodworths lived across the road from each other and were partners in a farming operation.

His previous convictions have been overturned. Woodworth, who was 16 at the time of the killing, is free on bond.

At a hearing Friday in Platte County Circuit Court, the judge handling the case took under advisement a defense motion seeking to have the Missouri Attorney General’s Office removed as prosecutor. The judge also took under advisement a motion by the state seeking to have a jury brought in from another county to hear the case because of pretrial publicity.
