Kansas City woman dies after arrest in western Kansas
A Kansas City woman died Wednesday after falling ill in the Sherman County jail in western Kansas, according to the Sherman County Sheriff’s Department.
Brenda Sewell, 58, was transported to a hospital in Goodland where she was pronounced dead. The sheriff’s department said the case is being investigated by the Goodland Police Department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation has been notified.
Sewell was arrested Monday by the Kansas Highway Patrol on suspicion of drug offenses, according to the jail booking roster. Sherman County is on the Colorado border and includes Interstate 70.
