Excelsior Springs man dies in rural Clay County rollover crash

A 27-year-old Excelsior Springs man died Monday afternoon when he was ejected from the pickup he was driving during a rollover crash.

Aaron L. Kern was headed east about 3 p.m. on Northeast 112th Street southwest of Excelsior Springs when he left the road, according to a preliminary crash report from the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The pickup struck a mailbox in the 21000 block of N.E. 112th Street. The pickup then skidded off the other side of the road, where it overturned and ejected Kern, according to the report.

Kern died in the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.
