Cass County woman convicted in husband’s death
A Cass County woman was found guilty Friday of second-degree murder in the 2010 shooting death of her husband.
Cynthia L. Walters, 63, also was found guilty of armed criminal action after a jury trial in Cass County Circuit Court, according to the Cass County prosecutor’s office.
Her husband, 66-year-old Robert W. Walters, died at a hospital several days after he was shot in the face at their home in the 1500 block of East 187th Street, south of Belton.
According to court documents, Cynthia Walters called 911 to report that she had shot her husband. She told police that she was angry at her husband, and pointed the gun at him because she wanted to scare him. She said she didn’t know the gun was loaded.
Her sentencing is scheduled for March 10.
