Swope Health Services completes spinoff

Swope Health Services, a community health care organization, announced Friday that it had completed its spinoff from Swope Community Enterprises.

Swope Health officially became a stand-alone organization on Jan. 1.

The organization provides a range of health care services, including mental and behavioral health. It serves more than 40,000 patients at eight sites in the Kansas City area.

“With the Affordable Care Act and the provisions giving more people access to health care, we know the demand for our services are only going to increase,” Dave Barber, Swope Health’s president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. “By becoming a separate, stand-alone entity, we are in a better position to respond more rapidly to the needs of our patients and the communities we serve.”
