Man charged with assaulting KC officer
A Kansas City man was charged with assaulting a police officer after an alleged carjacking Monday and a foot chase on Wednesday.
Brian A Myers, 25, is also charged with robbery, armed criminal action and being a felon in unlawful possession of a firearm. Myers had been released from prison in November on a sentence for assault.
According to court documents, Myers stole an acquaintance’s truck at gunpoint on Monday. It was later found burned near 36th Street and Elmwood Avenue. The victim identified Myers in a lineup. On Wednesday, as police attempted to arrest him, Myers allegedly fled and raised a gun at police in the 2100 block of East Linwood Boulevard. An officer fired a shot at Myers, who was not injured.
