Jogger struck by vehicle, injured

A man out for a late morning jog Saturday was hospitalized after a car struck him in a crosswalk near Shawnee Mission Parkway.

The incident occurred in Mission around 11:45 a.m. when the man, in his 50s, was southbound on Lamar at the parkway. An eastbound vehicle hit him, according to a police news release.

The jogger, who is listed in fair condition at an area hospital, suffered a broken leg and lacerations to his head that required stitches. The driver, a woman in her 30s, was not injured, the release said..
