Woman killed by train was from Lee’s Summit

Cass County authorities on Friday identified a woman struck by a train near Pleasant Hill as Mindi L. Smith, 42, of Lee’s Summit.

Investigators have not determined why Smith was on the railroad tracks, officials said. Her body was found Thursday morning. A vehicle was found near the location in the area of East 175th Street and South Boardman Road.

Foul play has been ruled out, according to authorities.
