Guilty plea in attempted murder of Shawnee man
One of four people charged with severely beating a Shawnee man last summer pleaded guilty Friday to attempted first-degree murder.
In exchange for the guilty plea, Johnson County prosecutors dismissed a charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder against 25-year-old Whitney Hersh of Kansas City.
Her sentencing is scheduled for March 10.
The 69-year-old victim was attacked last June in his home in the 5400 block of Flint Street. According to court documents, he was repeatedly struck on the head with a blunt object.
His wife, Denise Davey; stepdaughter, Nicole Rose Carter; and a Kansas City man, Adam Ryan Hersh, also are charged with conspiracy and attempted first-degree murder.
A jury trial for Davey, 51, is scheduled to begin Monday in Johnson County District Court.
