KCK startup EyeVerify wins two more technology awards

EyeVerify, a Kansas City, Kan., startup that in November won an international entrepreneurship competition, this week won two awards connected to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The company, which makes a smartphone product that scans blood vessel patterns in eyeballs and can be used for identity checks, was named Rookie of the Year at the Compass Intelligence Mobility Awards. It was also recognized for technology innovation.

The awards, given for mobile and wireless technology, were voted on by analysts and journalists covering the electronics industry. The sponsor, Compass Intelligence, is a research and consulting firm.

EyeVerify chief executive Toby Rush said he was humbled by the awards, which built on a string of successes. The company last year won top honors in Get in the Ring: The Investment Battle, beating about 1,000 other startups.

Rush said EyeVerify expects to announce commercial availability and business relationships in the first quarter this year.
