KU Medical Center, Children’s Mercy continue integration of programs

The University of Kansas Medical Center and Children’s Mercy Hospital on Monday announced further steps toward the integration of their pediatrics programs.

Michael Artman, the chairman of the pediatrics departments of Children’s Mercy and the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, now will serve in the same capacity at the KU School of Medicine.

In addition, Children’s Mercy has now been designated as a principal pediatric teaching hospital for KU Medical Center.

KU and Children’s Mercy first made public their plans for a formal alliance in December 2012. In recent years, the two institutions have collaborated on medical training, clinical trials and research.
