Bombardier to put 300 Learjet workers on furlough

Bombardier is putting about 300 of its Learjet employees on furlough over a period spanning six weeks during the first half of 2014 because of challenges in the jet market.

The memo sent to employees by vice president and general manager Ralph Acs on Friday morning said the furloughs affect only production of the Learjet 70 and 75 and direct support staff members.

Bombardier Aircraft Services, Bombardier Flight Test Center, Learjet 85 production, parts and service and customer support are not affected.

The furloughs will be instituted in two-week blocks. Employees will find out this month who is affected and what dates they will be furloughed.
