Michael Beasley punches self in head in return to Miami Heat

Michael Beasley on Thursday night got his first playing time since returning to the Miami Heat this offseason.

That seems like good news for Kansas State fans wanting to catch a glimpse of the former Wildcats star when the Heat play the Charlotte Bobcats in a preseason game Friday night at the Sprint Center.

But then Beasley punched himself in the head after committing a traveling violation and needed treatment from the Heats trainer,

according to Heat beat writer Joseph Goodman of the Miami Herald

.

Heres Goodmans account of Beasleys return in the Heats 112-107 win at Detroit.

He scored nine points in his first five minutes of action and was diving on the floor and doing things coaches generally like to see out of players trying to make a roster. Of course, Beasley also did something a little odd after one offensive play.

Upset with himself over missing a shot, Beasley started punching himself in the head while running back on defense. He punched himself so hard that he needed treatment after the game from the Heats trainer. Steel compresses (like the ones cut doctors use in boxing) were applied to Beasleys brow in the locker room.
