Man brings gun to Manual Career Technical Center in KC

A student brought a loaded handgun in a backpack to Manual Career Technical Center in Kansas City on Tuesday, police said.

The gun was discovered inside a backpack by a security guard. The student, described as a 30-year-old man, ran away from the school at 1215 E. Truman Road and left the backpack and the gun.

No shots were fired. Police said it is against the law to bring a firearm into a school.
