I-35 in Johnson County to close again this weekend
Drivers who rely on Interstate 35 near the Interstate 435 interchange will have their patience tested this weekend.
Crews once again will close I-35 between U.S. 69 and I-435 so that they can install bridge girders for the new eastbound I-435 flyover ramp to northbound I-35.
The closures will begin at 10 p.m. Friday. The highway will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
For the most part, traffic will detour around the closure by using U.S. 69 and I-435.The detours will be marked and message boards will alert drivers to the closure.
The Kansas Department of Transportation warned drivers to expect major delays during the weekend-long closure and urged them to use alternate routes if possible.
