Jurors in the JJ’s restaurant civil trial did not deliver a verdict Wednesday.

Jackson County Circuit Judge Robert M. Schieber released the jurors about 4 p.m. and said proceedings would resume Thursday morning.

A February 2013 natural-gas-fueled explosion and fire destroyed the popular restaurant near the Country Club Plaza at 910 W. 48th St., killing one employee and injuring 15 others.

The restaurant’s owners filed a lawsuit seeking more than $9.2 million in damages from several defendants, and jurors began hearing evidence in late July. Closing arguments began Tuesday.
