Former Royal Danny Tartabull owes $276,000 in child support

Former Kansas City Royal all-star Danny Tartabull has landed on top of a less than desirable leaderboard: Los Angeles County’s most wanted list of non-custodial parents who are delinquent on child support.

Tartabull, who played for the Royals from 1987 to 1991, owed $276,204.93 for support of his two sons, according to

a document issued by the Los Angeles County Child Support Services Department

.

From the document: “On January 24, 2011, Mr. Tartabull entered a plea of no contest to Penal Code Section 166(a)(4) for failing to support his two sons. He failed to comply with the terms of his probation and on May 2, 2012, he was ordered to surrender and serve 180 days in county jail. Mr. Tartabull failed to appear and the court issued a warrant for his arrest with bail set at $200,000. Mr. Tartabull is a former star baseball player.”

Joining Tartabull on the top 5 are two pastors, a mini-market owner and “an experienced bill collector.”

In Tartabull’s best season with the Royals in 1991, he was selected to the All-Star Game and finished 12th in Most Valuable Player voting, after batting .316, hitting 31 home runs and driving in 100 runs.

He made nearly $33 million in salary over his 14-year career, according to
