Fire fatality in Kansas City called ‘suspicious’
Kansas City police detectives are investigating a suspicious death after a man’s body was found at the scene of a bedroom fire Sunday morning in the 300 block of Oakley Avenue in the city’s old northeast.
Firefighters were called to the scene just before 8 a.m. After extinguishing the flames, which were contained to a bedroom, firefighters discovered the body. The medical examiner was called and police were investigating.
Police Chief Darryl Forté said the death had not been ruled a homicide but that it was being treated as a suspicious death.
