Tornado watch canceled for Kansas City area
A tornado watch for the Kansas City area has been canceled.
Kansas City was on the southeastern edge of the watch area, which covers northwest Missouri, northeast Kansas and portions of Iowa and Nebraska.
The National Weather Service says that a tornado watch means that conditions are favorable for the formation of severe thunderstorms, some of which could be capable of producing a tornado.
