No one was injured in a Kansas City, North, house fire Thursday morning.

Firefighters responded in time to contain the blaze largely to the home’s upper floor and attic, said Battalion Chief James Garrett of the Kansas City Fire Department. None of the residents of the house in the Briarcliff West development were home at the time, he added.

Neighbors in the 1200 block of West 43rd Place alerted authorities to the fire. One of them was Doug Gamble, who saw the blaze from his home just west of the residence.

“I was on the phone when I saw the bright orange flames on the roof,” Gamble said.

Investigators continued Thursday to search for the fire’s cause and to estimate the amount of the damage. Representatives of the Kansas City Police bomb and arson squad also were on the scene, Garrett said.
