Driver critically hurt after being trapped under Hummer in KC neighborhood

The driver of a gray Hummer H2 was critically injured late Wednesday after falling from and being trapped under the SUV in Kansas City’s Lykins neighborhood, a police spokesperson said.

The crash occurred about 10:20 p.m. in the 1300 block of Indiana Avenue, said Officer Alayna Gonzalez with the Kansas City Police Department.

A preliminary investigation found that the driver was backing out of a friend’s driveway and the SUV’s door struck a retaining wall. The driver fell from the vehicle and became trapped underneath, Gonzalez said.

The driver suffered critical injuries and was taken to a hospital. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, Gonzalez said.
