1 dead after motorcycle crash along highway in Lee’s Summit

Lee’s Summit police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that happened on U.S. 50 early Saturday.

In a news release Saturday, police said they were called to the westbound lanes of the highway near the O’Brien Road overpass on a report of a motorcycle in the median around 4 a.m. When officers arrived, they found the vehicle and the rider, who was dead, in the median.

Police said they were working to reconstruct the scene and determine what happened.

Police identified the man who died as Paul P. Perry, 30, of Independence.

Westbound and eastbound U.S. 50 were closed for a few hours while police worked at the scene Saturday morning.
