Body of missing Overland Park dentist found in vehicle submerged in Table Rock Lake
The body of an Overland Park dentist who had been missing since earlier this month was found in a vehicle submerged in Table Rock Lake in southwestern Missouri, police said.
Officer John Lacy, a spokesperson for the Overland Park Police Department, said in an email Monday that authorities confirmed they had found the body of 73-year-old Steven Lester Lieurance, of Overland Park. Lieurance’s vehicle was found in Table Rock Lake by a recreational diver, which prompted Missouri State Highway Patrol dive teams to respond and assist in retrieving the vehicle from the lake, Lacy said.
Lacy told The Star that an autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday to determine Lieurance’s cause of death.
Overland Park police said Lieurance had failed to return home from work in Olathe on June 2. Lieurance was listed as a dentist at the practice Esthetic Enhancement in Olathe.
On Thursday, police said they had recent leads suggesting that Lieurance’s vehicle was traveling through Reeds Spring, Missouri, which is a few miles north of Table Rock Lake, but a search last week did not lead investigators to Lieurance or his vehicle.
