A motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash on North Ambassador Drive in Kansas City’s Northland Sunday evening, police said.

In an email, Sgt. Phil DiMartino, a spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department, said the crash happened around 9:45 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Northwest Old Tiffany Springs Road and North Ambassador Drive.

Police determined that the rider of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle had been traveling south on Ambassador approaching the intersection with a green light when a Toyota vehicle turned into the intersection on a flashing yellow left-turn arrow, he said. The Toyota failed to yield, and the vehicles crashed into each other, he said.

The motorcycle rider was taken to an area hospital and was listed in critical condition early Monday morning.

Police are investigating the collision, and impairment appeared to be a factor, DiMartino said.
