Olathe Board of Education to discuss school consolidation, traffic patterns Thursday
The Olathe Board of Education is scheduled to meet tonight at 5:45 p.m. at the Education Center, 14160 S. Black Bob Road. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month.

At the board meeting, members will vote on whether to consolidate four “end-of-life” elementary schools into two new schools. The schools being considered for consolidation are Central Elementary, Fairview Elementary, Northview Elementary and Ridgeview Elementary.
Board members will also vote on whether to approve a traffic circulation improvement project at Rolling Ridge Elementary School. District staff reviewed the traffic patterns at the school and suggested that the district add a new drive from South Montclaire Drive to the north side of the school building to separate bus and car traffic.
Meeting agenda items for June 4
Here are some other agenda items that will be discussed at the board meeting tonight.
- The Behavior Support/ Interdisciplinary team will present how the program has been implemented across schools this past year and what it recommends for next year.
- Superintendent Brent Yeager will share how the legislative decisions could affect Olathe schools in the upcoming school year. Discussion will include the cellphone ban bill, fentanyl abuse, active shooter drills and student walkout policies.
- Board members will vote on whether to approve renovations at Meadow Lane Elementary school.
- The board will vote on whether to extend the contract of Superintendent Brent Yeager, to start July 1, 2026 and end June 30, 2029.
The members will go into executive session at the end of the meeting and then reconvene to adjourn following the session.
An end of the year special board of education meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. June 24.
