One person was seriously injured after their SUV careened into an intersection on Troost Avenue in Kansas City and hit a truck Wednesday morning, police said.

Police were called to the crash at the intersection of Troost and East 75th Street around 11:45 a.m. after a Ford Expedition driving on 75th “for reasons unknown” hit a speed limit sign and then a streetlight near Troost, said Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department, in an email. The Expedition continued into the intersection and hit a truck that was pulling a Bobcat on a trailer, which detached from the truck and spun around.

The Expedition then hit a light pole. Its driver was taken to a hospital with critical injuries, Gonzalez said.

The driver and a passenger in the truck were not injured.
