Woman in custody allegedly struck driver on head, caused crash in KCK
An Overland Park woman is in custody Friday after she allegedly struck a driver on the head, causing him to lose consciousness, while she was in the passenger seat as the pair drove on a Kansas City, Kansas, highway.
The 34-year-old woman is being held in the Wyandotte County Detention Center on suspicion of domestic battery, according to the jail’s inmate roster.
The Star is not naming the woman, as Kansas court records indicate she has not been formally charged with a crime as of Friday evening.
According to a crash report from the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 40-year-old Lenexa man was driving a 2012 Buick Lacrosse north on I-435, near Parallel Parkway and France Family Drive, around 6:20 p.m. Thursday.
The man was arguing with the woman, who was in the passenger seat, when she struck him in the head, the report said. The man lost consciousness, veered right and struck a guard rail and concrete barrier before the car came to a stop.
Both occupants of the vehicle were transported to area hospitals for treatment, according to the report. Both suffered “suspected minor” injuries.
