Missouri’s McBee family returns for 3rd season of reality show with dad in prison
We now know what a third season of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys will look like without the northwest Missouri family’s patriarch — who is currently serving time in a South Dakota prison.
This week, Bravo released a trailer for the new season, which premieres at 8 p.m. CST on June 15 on Bravo, streaming the next day on Peacock.
The theme of the new season? Save the family farm in Gallatin — about 70 miles northeast of Kansas City — at all costs now that dad, Steve McBee Sr., has mucked up the family’s finances.
Oh and there’s more of that relationship drama fans have come to expect because, duh, reality TV.
“The McBee family returns and their future has never been in greater danger,” said the official Season 3 announcement.
“With the family patriarch facing prison time following a massive FBI investigation and banks calling in loans as a result, the McBee family must scramble to protect their legacy amid new romances, unexpected pregnancies, emotional goodbyes, and devastating losses across the family businesses.
“Is this the start of a new chapter ... or the end of a dynasty?”
Translation: Will there be a Season 4?
Even without the show, fans can follow the McBee family members and their real-life drama on social media.
Last month Steven McBee Jr. defended himself against accusations of verbal abuse from his new — now apparently ex — girlfriend, Allie Eklund, allegations she made after he accused her of cheating on him.
He later apologized on Instagram for sending her “cruel and degrading” texts — screenshots showed he called her “slut” and whore” — and said he was in therapy “to manage my emotions during high-intensity moments, and I am now taking advanced steps to ensure I react better when faced with adversity.”
He’s still feeling the backlash from fans. On Thursday he posted an Instagram photo of himself playing with his baby niece, writing, “the important things in life.” He responded to one critic who accused him of deleting negative comments.
“I’m not running from it one bit and have actively been working behind the scenes on myself. This is not something I’m scared to admit I’ve struggled with — not just in relationships but in high pressure situations in business, with my brothers, etc.” he wrote.
“I WILL work through it and learn to keep emotions in check even in highly charged situations. I’m just not going to prematurely talk about how I’m a ‘changed man’ — but want to prove it over time through actions.”
In front of the cameras, the show won’t shy away from McBee Sr.’s criminal activity. The trailer begins with news coverage of him being sentenced in October to two years in prison.
McBee pleaded guilty to one count of federal crop insurance fraud in 2024 in U.S. District Court in Kansas City.
He admitted to receiving federal crop insurance benefits he was not entitled to as part of a plea agreement, and was ordered to pay out a total of about $7.2 million to the federal government as part of his sentence.
He was ordered to pay back about $3.2 million, the total amount of federal crop insurance benefits and subsidies he fraudulently received, according to prosecutors, and to pay about $4 million more in restitution to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency, which provides crop insurance for farmers.
Left holding the future of the family’s businesses in their hands, the four McBee brothers — Steven Jr., Jesse, Cole, and Brayden — are seen in Season 3 trying to climb out of the mess.
In a December episode of the family’s newly rebranded podcast, “More than McBee” — hosted by Steven Jr. and Eklund — Steven talked about how dependent he and his brothers were on their father to run the family enterprise, which also includes a chain of car washes, some of which operate in Kansas City.
“I think that we were too dependent on him for the major, major problem-solving skills,” Steven said. “This has given us the opportunity to step up, lead by committee, and for each of us to find our own strengths within the companies.”
Kacie Adkison, who is engaged to Cole McBee, wrote in an Instagram Story on Tuesday that Steve Sr. is doing well in prison.
“Lots of questions about Steve! He’s doing as good as he can be during his time away!” she wrote. “We are going to see him this weekend! ... I will let him know so many people are checking on him!”
She shared that she and Cole and their baby daughter visit him once a month.
The trailer shows Steven joking about how he met influencer Eklund through Instagram. She looks a lot like his old girlfriend, Calah Jackson, one family member comments.
Meanwhile, first-time fathers Cole and Jesse are seen arguing with their significant others and ope!
Someone took a pregnancy test.
