Why are some Kansas City DMVs closed Friday? It’s a very Missouri holiday
If you try going to a Missouri office today, there’s a chance you’ll run into locked doors and a picture of Harry S. Truman.
State offices are closed Friday, May 8, in observance of Truman Day. The holiday celebrates the birthday of the 33rd U.S. President and Missouri native Harry S. Truman.
The status of individual license offices may vary, as many of them are privately owned.
For example, the Missouri Licensing Office at 1161 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. is closed for the day. However, the North Kansas City license at 2421 Burlington St. is open for Truman Day.
To find local offices that are open, visit the Missouri Department of Revenue website. Places like schools, federal offices and post offices remain open for the day.
