Kansas City police have released a witness video showing a group assaulting a person in a parking lot near Longview Lake and are looking for the public’s assistance in identifying several suspects in the incident.

Capt. Jake Becchina, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department, said in an email that the victim’s injuries were generally minor bumps and bruises and not considered to be life-threatening.

In a social media post Thursday, police said the video was filmed around 8:30 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Longview Parkway and Raytown Road. The video, filmed by someone in the parking lot, shows a person curled up on the ground as a group of people punch and kick them. At one point, the person gets to their feet before the attacks resume. Others can be seen watching and filming the incident.

“The victim had gone to meet up with others when at least six suspects attacked him,” police said. “They also stole his bicycle, worth several thousand dollars, which has since been recovered.”

Anyone with information about the incident may contact police anonymously through the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
