The Kansas City Police Department opened a death investigation Wednesday after a body was found in a “deep state of composition” in a vehicle in Kansas City’s Hill Haven neighborhood.

Investigators were called to the area of Northeast 38th Street and North Ewing Avenue, near the Bennington Park Townhomes, just before 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, Capt. Jake Becchina, a spokesperson for the department, said in an email to The Star.

There, they found a body in a “deep state of decomposition” inside a Jeep parked in a treeline just north of the intersection, Becchina said.

Officers did not find “any immediate signs of foul play,” Becchina said. An investigation into the death is ongoing.
