Pedestrian critical after being struck by SUV near Arrowhead, Kauffman stadiums
A man is in critical condition after being struck by a car near Arrowhead and Kauffman stadiums Monday afternoon, according to police.
Emergency personnel and officers with the Kansas City Police Department responded just before 3:30 p.m. to East 43rd Street Terrace and Blue Ridge Cutoff, near Lot L at Arrowhead Stadium, Capt. Jake Becchina, a spokesperson for the police department, said in a news release.
Becchina said a white Ford SUV was traveling north in the middle lane on Blue Ridge Cutoff when a man near a bus stop walked into the road.
The driver was unable to avoid the man and struck him with the right front side of the vehicle, Becchina said.
The man was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains in critical condition, Becchina said.
Neither speed nor impairment appeared to contribute to the crash, Becchina said.
The Kansas City Police Department is investigating the crash.
