Kansas City’s Worlds of Fun sold. It will ‘continue normal operations’ in 2026

Kansas City’s longtime amusement park is changing hands once again.

Two years after Cedar Fair merged with Six Flags, Six Flags announced it’s selling seven of its parks to new owners, including Worlds of Fun. Six Flags is selling the park to “strengthen our foundation, sharpens our focus, and supports long-term growth across our parks,” according to a press release.

Worlds of Fun is now owned by EPR Properties, a real estate company in Kansas City that invests in amusement parks, movie theaters, ski resorts and other entertainment properties across the United States. EPR purchased the seven parks for $342 million.

A spokesperson for Worlds of Fun confirmed adjoining water park Oceans of Fun is also included in the sale.

“We are confident in the future of these parks under the care of EPR and its operating partners, who have strong experience managing parks of this scale,” Six Flags said in a statement. “At the same time, this decision allows Six Flags to invest more deeply in the parks with the greatest opportunity for growth and innovation.”

Worlds of Fun will continue to operate as normal for the 2026 season, which begins Saturday, April 25. The press release states no changes are expected, and all season and multipark passes purchased will be valid.

“Guests can look forward to enjoying their visits as they always have throughout the 2026 season,” Six Flags said. “This transition is not expected to affect the guest experience in any significant way.”

A $10 credit will be issued to anyone who purchased a Dining Pass, Fast Lane, Photo Pass or Drink Plan at Worlds of Fun and other amusement parks owned or sold by Six Flags in 2026.

Other parks included in the sale are:

  • Michigan’s Adventure in Grand Rapids
  • Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Galveston, Texas
  • Six Flags Great Escape in Queensbury, New York
  • Six Flags La Ronde in Montreal, Quebec
  • Six Flags in St. Louis
  • Valleyfair in Minneapolis
