How nice are your neighbors? New study ranks the friendliest KC neighborhoods

When picking a Kansas City neighborhood you want to live in, one of the deciding factors could be how friendly the residents are. A new study can make that easier to figure out.

Nextdoor, a networking platform for neighborhoods, recently released its 2026 list of the friendliest neighborhoods in Kansas City. The rankings are determined through neighbor behavior on its platform, with the friendliness scores being determined through multiple factors, including posts with positive or negative tone, neighbors promoting or recommending businesses, amongst other factors.

The friendliest Kansas City neighborhood according to Nextdoor was Waldo, which received a friendliness score of 100, and an affordability score of 97.

“Waldo is a vibrant, family-friendly neighborhood in Kansas City, MO, known for its eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, and bars. It’s a community with a small-town feel, featuring historic homes, great schools, and an annual street fair,” Nextdoor said.

Waldo has a population of 12,826, according to city-data.com, as the average age of men and women in the area is 39.1 and 39,6, respectively. The median household income for Waldo in 2023 was $115,367. The data is based on information from 2000-2023.

1. Waldo — Affordability: 97, Friendliness: 100

2. Davidson — Affordability: 98, Friendliness: 92

3. Marlborough Heights — Affordability: 99, Friendliness: 91

4. Ruskin Village and Heights — Affordability: 99, Friendliness: 91
