Looking for fish on Fridays? These 20 KC-area churches are serving for Lent

This week marked the start of the 40-day Lenten season, observed by Protestants and Catholics around the world. The period of prayer, fasting and reflection comes from the 40 days that Jesus Christ spent fasting in the wilderness before beginning his public ministry, according to The Bible.

Traditions and practices of Lent have changed over the thousands of years, but one frequent customt is giving up meat. Some will abstain throughout the 40 days, while others will avoid meat on Fridays.

Fish, however, is usually exempt from the no-meat rule, and churches and parishes around Kansas City offer fish fries on Fridays during Lent. Here are a few locations where you can go get your fish fry.
