First responders battle blaze affecting ‘several structures’ in Ray County

Sheriff’s deputies in Ray County are encouraging individuals to avoid the Sunshine Lake area Thursday evening as first responders battle a blaze affecting several structures in the area.

The Ray’s County Sheriff’s Office posted on social media around 4 p.m. Thursday that “all available deputies” with the department were responding to several structures on fire near the Sunshine Lake area.

At the time of the post, deputies, along with several fire agencies, were actively working on the “large and ongoing multiple structure fire.”

“For everyone’s safety, please avoid the Sunshine Lake area until further notice and allow emergency personnel room to operate,” the post said.

The sheriff’s office said it would provide updates as they became available.
