Movement inside the Jackson County Detention Center has been restricted after three people jailed there contracted COVID-19, according to the Jackson County sheriff.

Three people in the jail tested positive for COVID on Friday, according to a Facebook post by Jackson County Sheriff Darryl Forté. Several others exhibited symptoms, the post said.

The medical team is following protocol and sanitizing spaces, according to Forté.

The sheriff’s office did not immediately respond to The Star’s questions and request for an update.

That same jail had a bad outbreak of COVID in 2020, when it was listed by the local health department as an outbreak site associated with 144 cases.
