For Taylor Swift fans who are oh-so-disappointed that she won’t be at the Super Bowl cheering on her fiance, Travis Kelce, a video release coming Friday just might be the next best thing.

The news certainly has her fans jazzed up as they watch the seconds scroll by on a countdown posted to her website, taylorswift.com.

At 7 a.m. Central Time on Friday, the video for “Opalite,” the second single from “The Life of a Showgirl” album, will debut exclusively on Apple Music and Spotify Premium. Both require subscriptions.

Then, at 7 a.m. CST Sunday — Super Bowl Sunday — the video will be available to watch on YouTube.

Fans have also been given access to a new “Opalite” blue pearlescent vinyl. Preorders are available until 6 p.m. CST Friday, or until supplies last.

Swift’s marketing team, Taylor Nation, announced the video release on Wednesday. Swift hasn’t commented yet but has changed her Instagram profile photo to “Opalite” promo art.

Since it dropped on Oct. 3, “Opalite” has been considered an ode to Swift’s relationship with NFLer Kelce, who this season is mulling retirement from the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s a story of finding lasting love after heartbreak.

Kelce proposed to Swift in his Johnson County backyard in August after two years of dating.

“When we go through something that doesn’t work out, we oftentimes look at it as this like major setback” Swift told Hits Radio UK last year. “But actually I’ve found that so many of those instances in my life can catapult you forward in growth, in wisdom, in perspective.

“And so ‘Opalite’ is a song about like, kind of forgiving yourself for having gone through something that didn’t pan out the way you wanted it to ... it’s giving yourself permission to like, not have it all figured out or not marry the first person you ever dated.”

Neither has said anything to contradict fans who assume the song was inspired by Kelce.

For one thing, opalite is a manmade version of the natural stone opal, which happens to be Kelce’s October birthstone. Then Swifties recalled that the singer wore opal earrings while cheering for the Chiefs at the AFC Championship Game in 2024.

In an October interview with Capital FM, Swift all but confirmed fan speculation when the show’s hosts gifted her a tiny cat made of opalite tucked inside a mint-green jewelry box. Swift gushed, calling it “the perfect present.”

“Travis’ birthstone is an opal, so I’ve always fixated on that. I’ve always loved that stone,” she said. “I thought it was a kind of a cool metaphor. (Opalite is) a manmade opal, and happiness can also be manmade, too. So that’s kind of what the song is about, kind of the juxtaposition of those two.”

Kelce said early on that “Opalite” was probably his favorite song from the “Showgirl” album.

Speculation erupted last fall that Swift was in the UK shooting a music video.

Elle magazine found out how much it will cost fans who want to watch the video before it hits YouTube on Sunday but don’t have the necessary subscriptions.

Spotify Premium is currently offering a free, two-month trial deal; a subscription costs $12.99 after that.

Apple Music is offering a free three-month trial, after which an individual plan costs $10.99 monthly.
