Car crashes into bar in Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District, injuring one

One person was injured Monday evening after a vehicle crashed into a business in Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District.

The Kansas City Fire Department responded to reports of a car accident around 4 p.m. in the 1600 block of Oak Street, according to a press release from battalion Chief Michael Hopkins.

A Star reporter at the scene identified the business as the Chartreuse Saloon, a western-themed bar and billiard and game room in Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District.

At the scene of the incident, first-responders located a vehicle that had crashed through the first-floor window of the business, Hopkins said.

The crash occurred after the driver experienced a medical emergency, Hopkins said. They were transported to an area hospital in stable condition, where they were evaluated for a “medical issue” and minor injuries sustained as a result of the crash.

Hopkins told The Star in an email Monday that while the building was damaged, the damage “was not structural.”
